12 Ways to Save $500 This Month Without Feeling Deprived

November 17, 2025 · 7 min read

7. Create a “Fun Budget” With Cash

To prevent feeling deprived, allocate a weekly “fun budget” in cash (or a separate card) — specifically for non-essential treats like coffee, takeout, or small splurges. You can set a hard limit (e.g., $20–$40 per week) and stick to it.

Using cash makes the spending more concrete, and once it’s gone, you know you’ve hit your limit. This way, you’re not denying yourself, just giving structure.

8. Sell What You Don’t Need

One-time boosts to your savings can be powerful. Go through your home and identify things you don’t use (electronics, clothes, furniture, etc.) and sell them online (eBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc.). Selling just a few items could bring in $100–$300 in a weekend.

That’s a direct, no-frills way to boost your savings target without cutting your monthly enjoyment.
