12 Ways to Save $500 This Month Without Feeling Deprived

November 17, 2025 · 7 min read

2. Audit and Cancel Unused Subscriptions

Recurring subscriptions are sneaky money drains. Many people sign up for multiple services and forget about them. By auditing all your subscriptions (streaming, apps, memberships, cloud services), you can probably cancel two, three, or more that you don’t truly use.

You could save $20–$80 per month just by pruning subscriptions.

3. Re-negotiate Your Fixed Bills

Fixed expenses — like your phone, internet, or insurance — are often seen as “set in stone.” But they’re not. Call your providers and ask whether there are current promotions, loyalty discounts, or cheaper plans. Many providers can reduce your monthly bill if you ask — especially if you mention you’re considering switching.

For example:

  • Downgrade your phone plan or switch to an MVNO (a cheaper carrier).

  • Bundle your insurance (renters + auto) or shop for a new provider.

These changes can add up to $25–$75 or more of monthly savings.
