8. Book at the Right Time
Timing matters. Booking too early or too late can both cost you. The sweet spot depends on your trip:

Domestic U.S. flights: about 1–3 months in advance.

International flights: 2–5 months out is usually best.

For peak holiday seasons, book even earlier (up to 6–8 months).
Use fare history tools to see if the price you’re looking at is above or below average before hitting purchase.
9. Travel Light
Airlines love to advertise “cheap” tickets, then pile on baggage fees that wipe out the savings. A round-trip checked bag can add $60–$120 or more.
If you can, stick to carry-on only. Roll clothes, use packing cubes, and remind yourself: do you really need three pairs of shoes for a five-day trip?
