Checking fares manually every day is exhausting. Instead, let technology do the work. Set price alerts on your preferred routes and get notified when fares drop.

This works especially well if you have a trip in mind months ahead. Apps like Hopper even predict when prices are likely to rise or fall so you know the best time to book.

5. Fly into Nearby Airports

Big city airports often have the highest demand, which pushes prices up. But nearby regional airports can be far cheaper — and sometimes even closer to your destination once you factor in traffic.

For example, instead of flying into Miami, check Fort Lauderdale. Instead of San Francisco, try Oakland or San Jose. A short train or shuttle ride can save you big.
