State-Level Relief: Where the Real Money Is

The action in 2025 is mostly happening in the states. Depending on where you live, you may qualify for checks, rebates, or special programs designed to ease inflation and everyday costs.

Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

Alaska is the star of the show this year. If you’re a resident, you’re probably already familiar with the Permanent Fund Dividend—an annual payout funded by the state’s oil revenue.

  • Amount for 2025: Up to $1,702 per person.

  • Breakdown: $1,440 base payment + $262 energy relief bonus.

  • Payouts: Began on August 21, 2025 for those with eligible status; rolling payments continue into the fall.

This program has been around for decades, but with inflation and higher costs, it feels a lot like a stimulus check—because it is, in practice.
