Best Budget-Friendly Places to Travel in the U.S. in 2026

October 8, 2025 · 6 min read

4. Savannah, Georgia

If you love charm, history, and walkable streets, Savannah is unbeatable. The city is famous for its historic squares, Spanish moss, and cobblestone streets, most of which are free to explore.

Free walking tours and affordable trolley passes make it easy to see the city without spending much. And the food? Southern comfort meals are big enough to share — which saves even more.

Why go? Savannah feels like stepping back in time, offering beauty and history for travelers who don’t want to overspend.

5. Cannon Beach, Oregon

Nature is the best budget-friendly entertainment, and Cannon Beach proves it. Known for its dramatic coastline and Haystack Rock, this Oregon gem offers miles of beaches, tide pools, and scenic walks — all free.

Lodging can range from budget motels to cozy Airbnb cabins, and if you cook a few meals instead of eating out every time, you’ll cut costs even more.

Why go? For fresh air, ocean views, and natural beauty that doesn’t come with a price tag.
